today I fought a bear

For those asking, I have a salt water pool in my backyard. I drain it halfway in the fall, but let the rest freeze (as you do with larger pools). It’s mostly melted now, but there’s still a layer of ice covering the top like a creme brûlée and I thought it would be a brilliant idea to punch through. Turns out it’s still frozen about 4 inches thick. I cracked it on the first punch… and broke through on the second. I mean, I couldn’t let some ice beat me. right.
